The Men
Behind The Craft
The story of House of Alams is rooted in generations of tailoring craftsmanship passed down through the family.
The legacy begins with Master Monsoor Hussain (1890–1985) from Kanth, Moradabad, known for his handcrafted Kali Daar Kurtas. His reputation for precision and hand-finished tailoring attracted clients from across regions, including Lahore.
The craft was later carried forward by his son, Master Manzoor Hussain, who preserved the discipline and values of traditional bespoke tailoring.
In 1985, as a teenager, Mohd. Alam moved to Delhi carrying this inherited knowledge of tailoring. In 1993, he established a garment manufacturing unit in Bapa Nagar, Karol Bagh, working with established fashion businesses and gaining deep experience in garment production.
In 2006, he founded his own tailoring studio with a renewed focus on bespoke craftsmanship, precision cutting, and personalized tailoring — laying the foundation for what would later become House of Alams.
The family belongs to the Idrisi community, historically associated with tailoring and garment craftsmanship across generations. For the family, tailoring has always been more than a profession — it is a legacy carried through dedication, discipline, and lived experience.
Today, House of Alams continues this heritage through a modern approach to bespoke tailoring, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary refinement.
